How to specify which topnav menu item is currently selected?

Does anyone know how to specify which Mendix top navigation menu item shows as selected? I have an app with five navigation items across the top with, say, the middle one correctly showing selected (dashed rectangle surrounding the middle item) The page beneath is a data grid of rows of data. I then double click a row which opens a detail page. But then the dashed rectangle moves to surround the left-most top navigation item! Which seems wrong. I would have expected the dashed rectangle to remain surrounding the middle top nave menu item, as the currently selected item. How to fix this? Either remove the dashed rectangle entirely, or ensure the dashed rectangle displays where expected?
