there should be available a validation part in drop down reference selector, multi select bootstrap , reference set selector that it can’t be empty.

This is from a reference selector
You will find the same validation option in a reference set selector.
I am not sure about the multi-select bootstrap as that is from a third party developer and also has not had a new release for over 3 years.
