In Data Grid 1, it was possible to add additional columns for export without having to show them to the end-user on the page (see 113065 and 124015). This made it extremely easy and quick to add more data to the export without clutering the front-end.
The idea
- As a developer, I want the Data Grid 2 Export to Excel to add additional columns for export without showing them to the end-user on the page.
The suggestion:
- under the Column Properties add a new boolean field called "Include in export", if set to true always export that column (even when the visibility is set to false)
Additional advantages:
- there is no need to use (and maintain) excel export modules (see Excel exporter)
- there is no need to create and maintain Excel Export Templates across all environments
- changes to the Domain Model that affect the export will be informed via Studio Pro (whereas in the case of the Excel exporter the template will break)
- there is no need to create microflows and make domain model changes every time a new export is needed
