It would be nice if there was some simple mechanism to track the version of widgets used in your project. Perhaps a standard element could be included in the widget xml to identify the version that could be visible in the Modeler.
This would be particularly useful where standard widgets are often included in some app store modules, and overwrite the widgets already in your project
I agree that this would be helpful. Additionaly, Inside the widget mpk, there is a version parameter inside the clientModule node of the packkage.xml that would do the trick if it were visible in the modeler. However, in most widgets I have seen this parameter is not incremented with each new version of the widget in the app store. It's too easy to overlook such a small change! Clearly a better way is needed to track versions and display it to users.
