Which existing widjet is easy to modify?

Hi All, Can any one please tell me that any one of the widjet specifically for beginners to modify it without using JAVA SCRIPT? NOTE: Modify in the sense, I need to add at least one parameter in the existing module to show the modified functionality of the widjet.     Thanks in Advance!
