Not able to set target attribute to _blank in rich text editor

I'm using the Rich text editor widget version 2.2.4 from Mendix marketplace. The Studio Pro version is 9.24.1. The issue im currently face is when the user adds a link in the text box and sets the target as blank it does not save the target property to blank when the sanitization is on but it works when sanitization is set to no. We want to keep sanitization on. Is there any other way around this issue?
