Phonegap camera widget only captures images in portrait mode

We noticed in our mobile app that the phonegap camera widget only successfully captures pictures in portrait mode. When we try to take a photo in landscape mode, a portion of the image is cut off, maybe the widget was designed this way. This is happening with Android and iOS devices. I saw that the camera widget has not been updated since June 2016 and I know there has been a couple of changes with the hybrid mobile app features in Mendix since then. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or is anyone experiencing the same problem?
