start local application/program

Hello everyone, Is there a way to start a program on the clients computer from a mendix application? For example this person wants to start Outlook,Word,… from his/her computer. Does somebody know how this can be done? Kind regards, Steven Keersmaekers

What is the trigger/reason to open these apps?

open a specific file? Send an email to a certain email address? …?

Or just open the app and start doing stuff? if this is the case… WHY?
