How to change the default state of workflow and customized the task inbox page of workflow

Hi all, I am using workflow first time. Workflow has default state like inprogress, paused, completed, aborted, incompatible, failed and it also has default page task inbox. Through task inbox we can see the different request. But I want some customization to it. I have a different state draft,Submitted,rejected,approved. And accordingly I want to show different records in different page on TaskInbox page. When I submit the request it should appear in submitted tab with its count same as other if approver approve the request its comes under approved tab with its count. But I don't know how to set up this according to my requirement. How to change the default state with my require state and how to removed default data available on task inbox page and add my require data. Does anyone know how to change this?   Thanks
