Object to pass

Hi, I am working my way through the Constrain Your Data Using XPath. in the tab Constrain Your Data Using XPath the are mentioning to use an 'Object to pass’, but i can't find anything about how to do that or where i can find it. has someelse an idea what they mean by that? Thanks in advance!
