It seems like a huge waste of time that anytime I make change to an app I have to first commit those changes, then when I go to create a deployment package if I want it to be versioned I have to wait for the project to download. Since Mendix projects can easily reach up to 1gb or more due to their overuse and reliance on marketplace module to be functional this causes issues when the forced cloud hosted GIT servers are slow like they normally are. I do not like being forced to wait an extra 5 minutes everytime I need to create a deployment package simply because Mendix has slow cloud infrastructure, hence why this optimization would be nice to have. It could even be an optional checkbox to toggle during deployment package creation that is only available if there are no local changes detected.
