Edgeshark App: Discover and diagnose the communication inside your Industrial Edge

The Industrial Edge app Edgeshark visualizes the (virtual) communication structure and configuration of Industrial Edge apps and containers in general. It helps with learning and additionally diagnosing app communication, both in terms of especially IP and DNS configuration and live packet insight.

 

 

A dedicated view shows the IED ports that are open or forwarded to apps.

 

 

Inside containers, you can quickly view the open and connected communication endpoints. Traffic can be captured using a novel Wireshark plugin.

 

Interested? This should get you started:

1. Download Edgeshark app from Github
2. Unpack edgeshark.zip
3. Import the unpacked edgeshark.app into your IEM and deploy to devices.
4. Point your web browser to http://<ied-ip-address>:5001 – make sure to use http:, and not https:
5. Surf through the virtual communication topology and configuration of your IED.
