Dynamic Resource Allocation in Industrial Edge

We are currently exploring potential enhancements to resource management on the Industrial Edge platform and would like to gather your feedback.

Specifically, we are interested in the need for dynamic resource allocation during app runtime. This includes resources such as storage volumes, GPU resources, CPU cores, or other infrastructure resources that may need to be adjusted after an app has been deployed and started.

We would love to hear from you:

• Do you have use cases that require dynamic volume mounting at runtime?
• Have you encountered situations where the need to stop and restart an application to change resource allocations created challenges? (all kinds of resources, not limited to volumes)
• Have you encountered situations where this capability was missing on the platform?
• What challenges or limitations have you faced with the current volume behavior?
• Are there specific app scenarios where shared or runtime-mounted volumes would improve your solution?
• Are there scenarios where dynamically adjusting CPU, GPU, or other resources would improve your solution?
