For Flow Creator users, there is an urgent need to take action, with the Industrial Edge Release on Monday, Sept 21: S7comm and node-red-dashboard will be removed in this release on Monday.
Background: these nodes introduce security, maintenance, and support risks. More information can be found in the release notes and node configuration pages of the application user documentation for v1.19.5 and v1.20.0, and is also noted in the v1.21.0 release notes.
For any new installations, Flow Creator v1.21.0 will not include these nodes.
For app updates to v1.21.0 on existing devices, the nodes will be removed. Configurations and flows will thereby remain - the flows will appear as dotted lines in the Flow Creator, after update.
To use alternative nodes, users can manually reconfigure the S7 node and FlowFuse dashboard node. See migration guide here for migration of node-red-dashboard.
As a fall-back, it is possible to re-install the old nodes after upgrade and recover previous state (online via Manage Palette, or offline via the Nodes Repository). Users will need to open and re-save the flows before deploying. Deprecated nodes may not be used for new flows or normal operation.
✅ All other nodes remain unaffected, whether prepackaged with Flow Creator or manually installed by user.
