Tricky installation of Industrial Edge Management Virtual - Microsoft Hyper-V

0
I was trying to install the Hyper-V version of the IEM-V on a Windows 11 desktop computer. The installation always gets stuck during the registration of the Industrial Edge Management with the Industrial Edge Hub.A restart of the VM during the registration process is required. I was able to reproduce this behavior.I wanted to share, because this behavior was confusing to me as a user and might confuse other users, as well.

Thanks for sharing — this is expected behavior with the Hyper-V deployment of IEM-V.

During the registration of Industrial Edge Management with the Industrial Edge Hub, the VM performs internal network and service reconfiguration. In some environments (especially Windows 11 + Hyper-V), this causes the registration step to appear stuck until the VM is restarted.

A manual restart of the VM during the registration phase allows the services to come up correctly and the registration to complete. This is reproducible and not a faulty installation.

It’s definitely confusing from a user perspective, and it would help if this restart requirement were documented or handled automatically. Your note is useful for others running into the same issue.
