Updated App Roles and Accounts are not showing anymore

I updated our user roles name in our application which was fine for about 4 days. No changes have been made since then, and now in our Acceptance environment the accounts with the user role name that was updated are not showing anymore on the accounts page (from the administration module). Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice?

Hey ,

Yep, I’ve run into this before. When you rename a user role, the accounts in the database still point to the old role. Everything might look fine for a few days, but after a restart/deploy (like in Acceptance), those accounts can’t “find” their role anymore and disappear from the Accounts overview.

A couple of ways to fix it:

  • Easiest: recreate the old role name so the accounts show up again.

  • Better: move those accounts to the new role with a small microflow.

  • Going forward: try not to rename roles — it’s safer to create a new one and migrate users.
