I often forget to add translations for captions, labels, and messages. It would be great if Mendix could automatically generate translations (for all configured languages) whenever a new text is added or changed. Then, if a developer edits the suggested translation, Mendix could learn from that correction by capturing the context (module/domain, page/widget type, common terminology) and apply the same wording style in future auto-translations. This would reduce missed translations, keep wording consistent across the app, and still let developers stay in control of the final text.
The current MAIA Translation Generator is still a manual, on-demand feature. A developer has to explicitly click a button to generate translations. If you forget to do that, translations can still be missing, which is exactly the problem many of us run into.
What I’m proposing is more automatic and proactive. Whenever a caption, label, or message is added or changed, Mendix would immediately generate translations for all configured languages, without any extra action from the developer. This removes the “I forgot to translate” issue entirely.
Another important difference is learning from edits. If a developer adjusts the suggested translation, Mendix could capture that context (such as the module, page or widget type, and common terminology) and reuse the same wording style in future translations. Over time, this would help keep language consistent across the app.
So in short, MAIA helps generate translations when you ask for them, but this idea focuses on real-time translation, consistency, and learning from developer corrections, while still leaving the final wording fully under the developer’s control.
